Shawn's 2013 Thunder Road SpeedBowl Recap

Shawn’s Thunder Road Recap

2013 Thunder Road SpeedBowl - Shawn Fleury802 Toyota was so fortunate to be able to sponsor Shawn Fleury, who has been racing his redesigned Toyota Camry throughout the 2013 Thunder Road SpeedBowl season. Shawn has his championship race this weekend, he’s going into it first place in points, so we’d like to wish him the best of luck, and give a recap of his season!

May 26 Race: Shawn made great strides in most recent race last weekend; he and his team won their heat race! Shawn started in 7th in his semi feature and finished in 4th, and started 12th in his main feature and finished in 4th again - just missing 3rd place by a bumper! Shawn is now sitting at the No. spot in the Tiger Sportsman Division at Thunder Road.

June 9 Race: Shawn was caught in a wreck and finished 15th

June 20 Race: Shawn finished 6th!

July 4 Race: Unlucky - he got caught in a wreck again after being well on his way to a top 5 spot and ended up finishing 18th

2013 Thunder Road SpeedBowl - Shawn FleuryJuly 7 Race: Finished 5th! Go Shawn!

July 11 Race: Finished 13th, which is not what he wanted but we know Shawn's going to be amazing at his next one :)

July 25 Race: Shawn had a great night last night at Thunder Road, which is especially great because it was the mid-season double-points race! He won the heat race, placed second in semi-feature race, and... "We got 802 Toyota in the victory lane with a big win for the first time this year." August 4th Race: Shawn finished 4th!

August 8th Race: He finished 13th, which he wasn't happy with, but then:

August 16th Race: Shawn finished 8th and boosted himself to 2nd in points, just 3 points away from the lead!

August 18th Race: He finished 10th but gained back the point lead by 15 points!!

August 23rd Race: He finished 7th, keeping the point lead by 13 points!

August 29th Race: Shawn finished 11th; it started raining and shortened the race, so he was back in 2nd place with 9 points separating him and the lead, and just two races left to go.

September 1st Race: Shawn finished 4th! And he gained back the lead by 20 points!

Best of luck Shawn, we've got your back going into
the championship!

Shawn Fluery's Toyota Camry - Thunder Road SpeedBowl
The photo on the right is of Shawn's team at the track, patiently awaiting their turn to line up for the race. The car show, which took place the day before the race, awarded Shawn's No. 31 Toyota Camry with third place! The next day, they started 5th in the qualifying race and won that, then started 14th in the feature race and finished 10th after 35 laps. Shawn says it wasn't the outcome they were hoping for, but there are more races to come!

"The car was fast and we took it home in one piece - that's always a good day," he said.

Keep wishing Shawn luck and we'll keep updating his results! Want a car as cool as Shawn's? Well, we don't have any with quite the same paint job or racing additions, but we do have quite a few 2013 Toyota Camrys that are looking amazing, even without the extras - check 'em out! Toyota Predicts a Hybrid Future

Toyota's hybrid sales are growing at a fast pace

Toyota Hybrid Vehicles
Their first hybrid launched in 1997, taking ten years to hit the 1 millionth sale, but just two years later we hit the 2 million marker. Slightly less than a year after that, we've hit 5 million. With this Toyota plans to double its hybrid lineup by the end of 2015 by adding 18 models to the current 19. Originally, Toyota felt they were bold saying that 30 percent of vehicles would be hybrid by 2020, but now they believe that they're well on the way to that goal; 40 percent of their cars sold in Japan this year were hybrids, and 14 percent globally were as well.

The Prius was the original and most-popular Toyota hybrid vehicle, and for good reason! Check out our new Toyota Prius inventory here.

Toyota Gets Recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with its Ninth Consecutive Energy Star Partner of the Year Award

Toyota is awarded with the Energy Star Partner of the Year Award for the ninth year, the most among any automaker

Toyota is awarded Energy Star Partner of the Year Award
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Toyota for the ninth time with its Energy Star Partner of the Year Award - Sustained Excellence Award for continued leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency, according to Toyota's press release.

"During the past decade, cumulative cost savings at these 13 North American vehicle, engine and parts plants totaled more than $370 million and energy use has been reduced by 15 percent per vehicle produced, enough energy to power 27,000 average households for 10 years."

Not only has Toyota worked hard to keep sustainable energy going in its plants, but it goes so with the redesign of dealerships, like our own self-sufficient building at 802 Toyota, as well as creating a slew of energy-efficient, cost-saving cars like the Toyota Prius, Prius c, Prius v and the Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid.

Stay green, Toyota! And if you'd like to take a look at any of our Toyota hybrid vehicles, click any of the links above to be directed to our inventory page.
