More Details of the Redesigned 2014 Toyota Tundra
The 2014 Toyota Tundra Debuts at the Chicago Auto Show
Technology and fuel efficiency are two major factors for competitors when it comes to designing trucks. Toyota hasn't redesigned the Tundra since 2007, but with the 2014 Toyota Tundra, it's showing off both technology and added fuel efficiency.
A 6.1-inch color touch screen with Toyota Entune is available and includes Bluetooth streaming, navigation and Pandora streaming audio. The center of the gauge cluster also plays home to an all-new 2.5-inch multi-information display.
The exterior has a larger chrome grille; both the front and rear bumpers now have a three-piece design, which will aid in having less expensive replacement parts. The rear tailgate has an integrated spoiler to help with aerodynamics and therefore fuel efficiency.
Fun fact: there are SR, SR5, Limited and Platinum trim levels, but also a 1974 Edition, which is a new trim reflecting a western lifestyle. It's a tribute to the ranch where the Tundra plant resides, which was founded in 1974.
A backup camera is now standard on the 2014 Tundra, there's also a new blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross traffic alert, which will be available on the Platinum and 1974 Edition trim levels. There are eight standard airbags as well as a new manual headlight leveling system that includes LED daytime running lights in order to make things easier when towing heavy loads (available on the Platinum and 1974 Edition).
Pricing hasn't been announced yet - but is expected to be released alongside fuel economy information later on this summer. The 2014 Toyota Tundra is expected to hit dealerships in September. Can't wait that long? View our used Toyota Tundra and 2013 Toyota Tundra inventory here.
